Subject: [SIR-Mail] No.688: RINEX files with lost observations From: Laura Sanchez ******************************************************************************** SIR Electronic Mail 2013-07-01 15:18:00 UTC Message No. 688 ******************************************************************************** Dear Colleagues, RINEX files of some SIRGAS-CON stations are presenting incomplete (lost) observations. In most of the cases, the code P in L2 is not being tracked (or at least, it is not saved in the RINEX files). As a consequence, phase processing based on L3 (combination of L1 and L2) is not possible and the reliability of the computation decreases significantly. In the following you can see the percentage of lost observations for the most critical stations for the day 170/2013. Station Lost observations AMCO 15% BQLA 11% CRUZ 26% IMBT 25% MA01 12% NKLG 21% OURI 26% PBCG 26% PPTE 69% SJRP 72% SPAR 63% SPCA 58% SPJA 58% SRNW 56% SRZN 54% THTI 12% UNRO 12% UNSA 30% As indicated in the SIRGAS guideline ”Procedure for becoming a SIRGAS-CON station”, it is highly recommended that the responsible for each station makes a quality control of the data regularly in order to identify and to fix possible tracking data problems at the stations. The inconvenience related to the P2-non-tracking is not new and it can be solved by configuring the receiver tracking options or by updating the receiver firmware. For more details see e.g. the file 1.05_Blume_USGS_6-12.pdf at ftp://pipeline.gps.caltech.edu/pub/Archive/nancy/. Thanks for your kind attention.
